The Florida Department on Law Enforcement has announced that Port St Lucie has a super low crime rate. Port St Lucie has earned the honor of the safest large city to live in - in the state of Florida. There are 19 cities in Florida that have populations over 100,000 and Port St Lucie is one of them. 
The crime rate in Port St Lucie is very low- only 2,300 crimes per 100,000 people.
The other good news is that Port St Lucie also has the lowest crime rate even compared to the unincorporated areas of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties which of course have much lower populations.
The Port St Lucie Police Department is considered one of the best police departments in the county.
