Just when we thought it was over, BAM, another threatening blow to Wellington's Equestrian future because two grown men do not know how to let go and give it a rest! I mean this is absolutely ridiculous! Residents are getting fed up with their poor behavior. When you are a business person in a community you must put your petty disagreements and personality conflicts aside and act for the higher good of the community in which you conduct your business.
Stadium Jumping just threatened to move the National Horse Show out of Wellington, Florida to Jacksonville. All day and into the evening yesterday and last night Mark Bellissimo and Stadium Jumping were haggling and arguing back and forth. The residents of Wellington and the Equestrian folk that live here and get ready for the National Horse Show every year are caught in the middle of this entanglement of egos and carelessness from business men that should know better.
Don Dufresne, a friend of ours is the Chairman of the Wellington Equestrian Committee an the President of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. He is so so upset about this mess. Don wrote a letter to them today: "A quick an definitive resolution to at least some of the issues is imperative so that, at a minimum, the public can be assured that the future of the equestrian industry in Wellington and the surrounding areas is a bright one." Well, I totally agree. This just keeps going on and on.
The National Horse Show is 124 years old. It used to be staged in New York at the Madison Square Garden. Now it is held in Wellington, Florida. The 5 day horse show attracts thousands of horses to kick off the Equestrian Season here in Wellington December 5-9th. From there on through April an estimated $50 million dollars is added to our community's economy. That alone should be incentive enough for these men to settle their differences for the good of all.
Both camps, Stadium Jumping and Mark Bellissimo, don't seem to care about what they say to each other in public or what the public hears. These statements carry negative results.
Stadium Jumping has been holding the National Horse Show at the Polo Equestrian Club for 5 years now. Mark Bellissimo is the new landlord over the lease with Stadium Jumping. Stadium Jumping needs to have these big white tents each year to for hosting galas and housing horses. The show can not be put on without these tents. Stadium Jumping has to renew their permit each year to do this but now Mark Bellissimo has to sign the permit as the landlord approving the tents. Well, guess what! You guessed it! Bellissimo wants something in return for signing the permits. Stadium Jumping's new facility will not be ready until 2009 when their lease with Bellissimo expires. What does he want? He wants Stadium Jumping to help him get more desirable show dates for his horse show. This is so petty and immature, selfish and inconsiderate.
Please stop your bickering and work together to promote and keep our Equestrian Community here in Wellington fun and profitable!

What is up with them! Are they so full of themselves that they are cutting off their noses to spite their face? People do not want to commit to a show when they do not even know if it going to go on! I tell them, get a life and see that you are hurting yourselves too. Plus it does not make them look good either. But then again, some of these guys, I have met quite a few, don't care about how they look, either :)Katerina

Rita- Just when we thought it was over! But these men are hurting the horse industry with their bickering. No one likes to be around all that negativity. We will see how and if they resolve their differences. Google loves this soap opera and I get so many searches for it. People want to know....Katerina
