A Hit And Run That Makes No Sense In Wellington Florida, Sugar Pond Manor

My 21 year old daughter has been on bed rest since her fourth month in her pregnancy. She is 7 months along now. She is allowed to take showers and not much else. I let Cleo, our beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese cat out to go to the bathroom this morning. And then I took my son to some of his homeschool activities. When we got home, I got busy straight away with listings and such.

Then my daughter asked me if I had seen Cleo. I said not that I can recall. She said something in her gut told her to go look for him. We live in a wonderful neighborhood and we know all our neighbors except for about 2 newer families that have moved in the neighborhood. Both have teenagers at home and we have started to hear the loud boom boxes from one of the cars and driving faster than the rest of us do in our peaceful neighborhood.

Milet, my daughter went outside and called his name. He always comes running when he hears his name. Well, he did not come running this time. He was crying to let Milet know where he was. He had been hit by a car. Cleo is such a wonderful cat. He walks on a leash when we travel. He talks to us all day! He has the most striking blue eyes which you can not see in the photos because he is not feeling well enough to look up at me to take his photo. He is trained to go to the bathroom outside and does not even have a litter box. All the neighbors love him as he visits around our little street with not much traffic to speak of. So someone hit him and did not even bother to come and tell us what happened. They just hit and ran and left him there to fend for himself.

The amazing thing is that he somehow pulled himself back into our back yard and settled down behind our shed in a shady area. He called for Milet and when she found him he could not walk. His hind legs are not working. We were afraid he had nerve damage but then a couple of hours ago he began to move his tail. That is a good sign. We are all taking turns taking care of him until the morning when his vet will take xrays of this bottom half of his body. Then we will know what his prognosis is.

Cleo was born in 1994 and has traveled much of the country with us. When I bought him he was a female. His testicles were receded up inside of him so everyone including my vet thought he was a girl and so we named her Cleopatra, Cleo for short. Well, about 2 months later we noticed he had the signs of being a male. We brought him back to the vet who explained that this happens with cats at times. We decided to keep him anyways. He was used to his name so we just changed it to Cleopatrick.

Here he is laying on the couch with Milet tonight. We are all praying for him tonight.

Many of you have been commenting on my posts that I wrote this week and I was planning to get back to all your comments tonight but then this happened. I am sorry and I will get back to each and every one of you that have commented on my posts today and yesterday. It may be a couple of days or so as we must take care of Cleo first. Thank you for your understanding hearts.

If anyone knows or has any information regarding the car that hit Cleo please email us at our address to the right in our profile. We appreciate any help in this matter. There are new tire skid marks about one house down from us on  the corner of Cherry Lane and Jonquil in the Sugar Pond Manor Development in Wellington Florida.

KATERINA:  It's terrible what happened to Cleo.  Some people are truly heartless.  I hope that everything works out ok, and that you find out who did this.  Take care of Cleo.  Don't worry about replying to comments.  There are more important things in life.

Katerina - This is simply terrible behavior by whoever is responsible.  I also hope things work out alright, and that you are able to determine who is responsible for this.  We have been dealing with some pretty big issues of our own this week, as you will see when you next visit my blog.  My prayers are with you and your family as you help your pet to heal.

Katerina,

I am sorry to hear about that. I have a similar story, and I posted about it.. Check it out.

One Question, Can you put a price on your Pet??

My dog was run over while on the grass...

Take Care,

Katrina, That is just awful and to have your daughter find the family cat injured like that. Some people have no compassion for any creature. I hope Cleo recovers soon.

Katerina, I was sick to read this but love heals and your Cleo has a lot of love and now many blessings coming her way....and to your daughter as well, who is so closely connected she KNEW something was wrong.  Please keep us updated and you certainly don't need anymore pressures, I wouldn't worry about responding....everyone loves you and wishes for the best.

It breaks my heart to hear this happened. I pray that Cleo will get a good report. I know that my animals are just like the kids, only no sass. ha ha Take care, and keep us up to date. Have a great day!

Sorry to hear about this . We are pet lovers.  Two cats, a black male who is very laid back and a tabby female who is a monster.  We thought the female was a male by what the shelter told us when he was 6 weeks old. When we took "Oscar" to get fixed, we found out that he is a she.  No matter, we still call him our little boy because a girl would not be that ornery,

So sorry to hear about this.  We live not far from you folks.  We have a Boxer named Scout. She is an awesome dog and a true member of our family.  She always stays int he yard and all the neighborhood kids play with her all the time.  Well, one day she was outside and ran out into the street and down the block which was unusual for her.  She was across the street in a yard and a small truck came barreling down the street just as Scout ran out and BAM.  He hit her.  He stopped ro a minute and seemed like he was going to get out but I think he freaked when he saw my big but running down the street and took off.  I picked up Scout and a year later she is totally fine - Thank God.  One thing I do notice now is that she won't even go past the sidewalk in our front yard!! She learned a valuable lesson there and was very fortunate.  I am sorry to hear abot your cat. I hope for you and your family that he recovers quickly and soon.  Take care!

Oh Katerina!  So sorry for your hurt kitty!  I hope he'll be okay and keep us posted. People who understand that pets are actually part of a family understand your pain. I often wonder about people who just hit animals and drive away and where their mind is at when it comes to these precious creatures.

This is so sad!  These things are traumatic, when an animal gets needlessly hurt.  Unfortunately, I don't think I can be much help in locating the perp...

Hey Jeff.  I am on my third boxer now.  My first boxer - Beau - was the all time king for me.  He was awesome. Smart, big (85 lbs. brindle) and just a great dog.  He got lymphnotic cancer and we had to put him down.  I was 14 or so and it killed me.  I still have his pictures up in my house. The 2nd one was Trip who was a mirror image of Beau.  Another awesome family member but we actually gave him away.  That's right we gave him away. One of my dad's partner's had a little girl with leukemia.  She was 11 years old.  She was battling it.  We went on vacation and let her baby sit Trip for us.  She fell in love with him and they actually noticed her whole demeanor improve. So, when we got home, we let her have him.  She recovered and now has her best friend with her and we know Trip helped to save a little girls life and gave her happiness and hope and he is in good hands. It hurt to let him go but man - what an awesome feeling to be able to do that for someone.  Maybe I will write a post on that.  Scout - our current boxer was a rescue from the Florida boxer rescue.  She is skinny and fawn and beautiful and a full member of the family.  She is my little girls best buddy and she runs the house.  They are the best dogs int he world and the best breed for families and kids - in my humble opinion!!!!

Celeste "Sally" Cheeseman; Mililani Hawaii Real Estate

Sally- Thank you so much for being here for me during this time. I wrote my tribute post to Cleo late last night after coming home from the vet. It is a sad time for us now but I know it is what he would want. The poor guy was pushing back his poop because he could get up to go and did not want to go on the towel we had under him. In the Xray it showed how he was holding it in. He was such a clean cat and never wanted to be stinky. He did not even use the litter box. He went outside in the bushes and covered it up so well. If we left him inside too long like when we went out and forgot to let him out, he would go right on top of the drain in the bathtub. He had no feeling in his legs at all and no pain, but he was suffering in his mind because he could not get up. Katerina

Brigita, read my next post about Cleo. There was a lot worse things wrong than the car hitting him. Everything happens for a reason. Katerina

Posted by Nestor & Katerina Gasset Realtors® Wellington Florida Homes For Sale (International Properties and Investments LLC) over 4 years ago

Katerina,

I am a believer in things happening for a reason.  When I was going through my divorce and my farm was up for sale, I needed to find a home for my 2 horses, which included my first horse.  He was 26 at the time.  I wasn't sure how he would be moving at this time in his life, since this was his home for most of his life.  (I got him as a 3 year old.)  Long story short, I had to put him down.  It hurt a lot, but after the pain subsided, I realized that this happened for a reason.  He left this earth at a place he called home.

Katerina what a terrible thing to have happen.  I don't get people sometimes!  I read the other post as well and just know in your heart you did the right thing by putting Cleo down so he doesn't have to suffer.  My sister had to put her dog down last week and she said it was the hardest thing she'd ever done even though it was for the best.  My prayers go out to you and your family.
