My 21 year old daughter has been on bed rest since her fourth month in her pregnancy. She is 7 months along now. She is allowed to take showers and not much else. I let Cleo, our beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese cat out to go to the bathroom this morning. And then I took my son to some of his homeschool activities. When we got home, I got busy straight away with listings and such.
Then my daughter asked me if I had seen Cleo. I said not that I can recall. She said something in her gut told her to go look for him. We live in a wonderful neighborhood and we know all our neighbors except for about 2 newer families that have moved in the neighborhood. Both have teenagers at home and we have started to hear the loud boom boxes from one of the cars and driving faster than the rest of us do in our peaceful neighborhood.
Milet, my daughter went outside and called his name. He always comes running when he hears his name. Well, he did not come running this time. He was crying to let Milet know where he was. He had been hit by a car. Cleo is such a wonderful cat. He walks on a leash when we travel. He talks to us all day! He has the most striking blue eyes which you can not see in the photos because he is not feeling well enough to look up at me to take his photo. He is trained to go to the bathroom outside and does not even have a litter box. All the neighbors love him as he visits around our little street with not much traffic to speak of. So someone hit him and did not even bother to come and tell us what happened. They just hit and ran and left him there to fend for himself.
The amazing thing is that he somehow pulled himself back into our back yard and settled down behind our shed in a shady area. He called for Milet and when she found him he could not walk. His hind legs are not working. We were afraid he had nerve damage but then a couple of hours ago he began to move his tail. That is a good sign. We are all taking turns taking care of him until the morning when his vet will take xrays of this bottom half of his body. Then we will know what his prognosis is.
Cleo was born in 1994 and has traveled much of the country with us. When I bought him he was a female. His testicles were receded up inside of him so everyone including my vet thought he was a girl and so we named her Cleopatra, Cleo for short. Well, about 2 months later we noticed he had the signs of being a male. We brought him back to the vet who explained that this happens with cats at times. We decided to keep him anyways. He was used to his name so we just changed it to Cleopatrick.
Here he is laying on the couch with Milet tonight. We are all praying for him tonight.

Many of you have been commenting on my posts that I wrote this week and I was planning to get back to all your comments tonight but then this happened. I am sorry and I will get back to each and every one of you that have commented on my posts today and yesterday. It may be a couple of days or so as we must take care of Cleo first. Thank you for your understanding hearts.
If anyone knows or has any information regarding the car that hit Cleo please email us at our address to the right in our profile. We appreciate any help in this matter. There are new tire skid marks about one house down from us on the corner of Cherry Lane and Jonquil in the Sugar Pond Manor Development in Wellington Florida.

Katerina,
I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope you get good news from the vet and that Cleo has a speedy recovery.
Hi Katerina - oh, that makes me feel sick to my stomach. I could never in a million years hit someone's pet and then just leave it like that. I hope he is back to normal as quickly as he can be.

Had that been the only issue he would be here with us now, but he was old and we discovered many more things going on with him. I just wrote a post about it in our tribute to Cleo after we had to put him down late last night. Katerina
Celeste "Sally" Cheeseman; Mililani Hawaii Real Estate
Sally- Thank you so much for being here for me during this time. I wrote my tribute post to Cleo late last night after coming home from the vet. It is a sad time for us now but I know it is what he would want. The poor guy was pushing back his poop because he could get up to go and did not want to go on the towel we had under him. In the Xray it showed how he was holding it in. He was such a clean cat and never wanted to be stinky. He did not even use the litter box. He went outside in the bushes and covered it up so well. If we left him inside too long like when we went out and forgot to let him out, he would go right on top of the drain in the bathtub. He had no feeling in his legs at all and no pain, but he was suffering in his mind because he could not get up. Katerina

Thank you so much. Yes, it has been tough with my daughter in a high risk pregnancy and on bed rest, this is not an easy time. And our kitty had to be put to rest last night. Katerina
Katerina,
I am so sorry to hear about Cleo! I will be praying for you all and hope whoever hit him will have a conscience and do the right thing.
Brigita McKelvie
Brigita, read my next post about Cleo. There was a lot worse things wrong than the car hitting him. Everything happens for a reason. Katerina
Katerina,
I am a believer in things happening for a reason. When I was going through my divorce and my farm was up for sale, I needed to find a home for my 2 horses, which included my first horse. He was 26 at the time. I wasn't sure how he would be moving at this time in his life, since this was his home for most of his life. (I got him as a 3 year old.) Long story short, I had to put him down. It hurt a lot, but after the pain subsided, I realized that this happened for a reason. He left this earth at a place he called home.
Brigita McKelvie
Brigita- Yes, you are right. It is hard to let go but once you do you can see the bigger picture. Katerina
