Speechless Sunday- What Do You Think He Is Looking For?

Has this rooster lost his way home? I went outside early the other morning to find this rooster in our neighbor's yard. He was walking around the yard and then started hanging out here at the downspout. He was pecking around there. It is fun to see all the different birds around South Florida. It is a wonderful area for bird watchers even though this is suburban and a community. Here you will find all kinds of wild animals and seems like some escapees.

I'd guess birdseed :)  Cute little guy!

I guess worms coming up from the ground that might have too much water from the downspout.

Well, Kerrie- you are right although he is not really finding birdseed. Our neighbor feeds the squirrels each morning with squirrel food. So he must be getting the left-overs there:) Maybe squirell feed works for roosters too;) Katerina

Donna- I thought that at first too- but then I wondered- do Roosters eat worms?

Well, Yahoo answers happened to have that question asked on Oct 1:) and the majority of answers were yes that roosters will eat garden worms along with seeds and nuts. I think the squirrel food is similar to bird seed. I will ask my neighbor this week.

Robert and Lisa- Yes, he is looking for food and he is an escapee because wild roosters are not usually around here that is why it was so interesting. Yet to discover an alligator in your pool is not so surprising:) Katerina

We use to have roosters for pets when we were kids. They would often roam around the neighborhood, but they always came home until a dog got them:(

Dawn- here we have foxes. I have a friend who raises chickens and she allows the hens and roosters to roam free but at night she has to put them in very securely because the foxes think they are a tasty snack:)
