The Alliance For Eating Disorders Awareness- Escape To Reality Fashion Show Benefit

ActiveRain's own short sale attorney Richard Zaretsky of West Palm Beach along with Nestor Gasset- Broker Owner of International Properties & Investments and Katerina Gasset- Realtor® SEO Business Branding Consultant and Keynote Speaker Katerina Gasset enjoyed an evening at the Escape To Reality Fashion Show to benefit The Alliance For Eating Disorders Awareness.

Here is a video of Nestor and Richard at the fashion show:

The Alliance For Eating Disorders Awareness was founded by Johanna Kandel who is the daughter in law of Richard Zaretsky who is our attorney and the major legal short sale and foreclosure content provider here on ActiveRain. When his posts get featured it is because he has something important to say. Richard Zaretsky does foreclosure defense and short sale negotiations. He also does general real estate and business law.

The Escape to Reality Fashion show was a show to celebrate every body. This was the perfect fit for an eating disorder benefit event because one of the expectations of fashion shows and the fashion industry especially with models ( I know, been there done that) is the pressure to stay skinny. The pressure to be beautiful and thin are not easy to deal with. This fashion show celebrated women and men in all ages and sizes. Here is one model who is pregnant- how beautiful!

Here is a video of one of the models that was in the fashion show:

I love that video because she is comfortable in her own skin. How cool is that! That is the first step towards recovery- to accept who you are. The hair styles were really bold and wild also:

Johanna Kandel is a very bright young lady. She was Valedictorian of her class at UCF. She was all ready for graduate school when she heard her call to help others with eating disorders as she went through this herself. She quickly found out that there was not much help for people like her with eating disorders. It was a secretive disorder that people did not talk about and that others did not want to know about or help with.

Here is Johanna at part of her introduction at the benefit event Saturday night celebrating her 11th year of success in her non-profit work:

The mission of the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness is a non-profit organization raising awareness about eating disorders, providing education and to promote a positive body image free from weight preoccupation and size prejudice.

This mission was fully evident at this Escape To Reality Fashion Show which really embraced all sizes and weights. The audience cheered as these different models who were modeling clothing from Macy's came out on the runway.

What a great show! I can imagine how successful it was in its mission to raise awareness about eating disorders and promote a positive body image away from weight preoccupation and size prejudice. It was inspiring too. I liked how the models featured were the perfect examples of ones who love themselves despite their size, body shape, color, etc. Thanks for sharing this!

I'm always happy to see an industry that creates eating disorders understanding a huge problem. I reallize the top fashion folks still perpetuate the you can never be "too thin" craziness, but fortunately there are lots of outreach groups now trying to help counter the problem.
