Wellington Florida Eco Tip Of The Month-July-Back To School Tips

Wellington Florida Eco Tip Of The Month for July- Back To School Tips

School starts back up on August 18th here in Wellington Florida so now is the time to get ready for going back to school.   wellington florida eco tips for back to school

Here are some Eco Tips for helping your children's school go greener:

  • Use reusable lunch boxes
  • Use plastic containers with lids that are reusable instead of plastic bags.
  • Buy food in bulk and package them in containers instead of buying individual wrapped items. This is also healthier.
  • Buy steel bottles for water and juices that you can chill the night before. These are reusable.
  • Don't use plastic water bottles as they are usually thrown out instead of recycled.
  • Walk or ride your bike to pick up your children from school. Sitting in your car with all the fumes is not good for your health either.
  • Start a recycling program at your school if there is not one there already.

It would be a great convenience to me if I could just copy your posts like this and re-post them to my localism. You don't mind, do you? You guys do such a great job - just look at those clean lines and well spaced text and all. I keep trying but come up a leetle bit short.

This list of tips are very useful. We have using the reusable lunch box for some time now. I love my children but this is the most wonderful time of the year - Back to School.

These are great tips - my kids have lunch boxes we got from LL Bean but my daughter lost hers - we replaced it with a $5 one from Wal Mart!

Buying bulk snacks and breaking them down yourself is also CHEAPER, plus we found that those little individual snack sizes are never satisfying; they are about half the size they should be!

We use small Rubbermaid drink bottles and I often put about a half inch of water in the bottom at night and freeze it, so that it's a solid block of ice in the morning and by lunch time it still has not melted and the drink is still cold.

Great tips Katerina. You brought back some memories of the days I used to dislike. The end of summer and heading back to school...yuck :)

Katerina, This is a good list you put together and it teaches our children to value our earth at an early age.  We have opportunities to teach our children what we now know to be important.
