Casa Santiago is a Cuban and Dominican Bakery, Restaurant and Caterer in Royal Palm Beach Florida.
When we are asked where can you get a great Cuban sandwich or Lechon Asado we don't hesitate to say Casa Santiago. Where can we find tasty Croquettas, Flan, Tres Leches, Pastel De Guayaba or a can of Materva? No place other than Casa Santiago.
This Cuban cafe is conveniently located right off of Okeechobee Blvd in Royal Palm Beach at 11150 Okeechobee Blvd.
Nestor's family fled Castro during the revolution and arrived in Miami in the early 60's when he was just a little boy. Of course, you don't have to be Cuban to love Cuban food! But the Cuban food is in his blood and he enjoys living minutes away from really good Cuban food. Most places we have been to are less than desirable in taste and quality.
If you are looking for a fiesta atmosphere look no further. You can find yourselves in the middle of a lively conversation most any time of the day. When we walked into the Cafe the other day there were several men sitting around the counter just having a great conversation in Spanish. If you want to sharpen up your Spanish language skills this is the place to come and hang out! They even have the Spanish news stations playing so you can get a different viewpoint! Now that is a refreshing change!
While we were eating here the other day I thought that this would make a good Localism post. As I was thinking this thought, the owner, Santiago came over to us and asked us if he could treat us to his homemade Flan. How could we say no? His Flan is delicious. We told him about about the review we were writing up on his food and he was very appreciative.
Casa Santiago is owned by Santiago Rozon and his wife Milagros Rozon. Make sure when you go to eat at his restaurant that you tell them you read about them on our blog. He is excited to have us do a review of his Cafe.
When we go Nestor will either order the Cuban Sandwich or the Bistec de Palomilla with black beans and rice and sweet fried bananas.
I order the Yucca with Black Beans and Rice. The dishes are served in large portions and you never leave hungry!
They are open 7 days a week: Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Phone for delivery or to have them cater your next event: 561-793-4470.
Check out the bakery below in the video! Mmmm, good!

Katerina - I've never had Cuban food before. It sounds delicious. Is it something like Mexican food?
Never had Cuban food before either, but the pastries do look delicious and are making me quite hungry!
Katerina, what a great writeup with superb photos on this Cuban restaurant. There are so few around the country but your area it is a specialty.
Sounds yummy. I am drooling already. Thanks for sharing. All the best.
Katerina: What GREAT Localism information for Royal Palm Beach Florida prospective clients! There's no one that knows your area better! The Cuban restaurant looks like a really cute neighborhood feature and I KNOW the food is fabulous.
Thank you for sharing such a great looking and Im betting great tasting place with us ... it smells great even this far away. :)
Katerina - this sounds like a terrific place for Cuban food. GReat write-up. I'm sure the owners are pleased. Wish we had something like this, although we do have a great beach restaurant that has Cuban night on Thursdays with live music. Always a treat.
Jeff
This blog has made me want to sample Cuban food...I love flan so maybe i already had some without even knowing it. What a wonderful blog for localism!!!!! Thanks guys!
Nestor and Katerina
If there's anything I miss about Florida, it's Cuban food! I have been looking for good Cuban food in the west coast in the Bay area, but haven't yet found one that compares to what I've had iin Florida. Oh, there's a restaurant called Havana in our little island city, but it's mostly fusion Cuban food -- they've altered it enough to appeal to the general public. But in my opinion, it's watered down some of the best things about Cuban food.
Some folks say why not eat Mexican --- absolutely NO COMPARISON! I don't love Mexican food like I love Cuban food. Too bad we don't have a good one over here. If someone knows of a really good Cuban food in the San Francisco area, please let me know ASAP!
Katerina: I just realized that I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS on that little gold star! Well deserved!
We have a Cuban restaurant we go to. I usually order the steak sandwich or the bastic with black Bean's and plantains...too fattening but I love it..I also love the pulled pork!
Food looks awesome!
pippa
Katerina - Congratulations on the featured LOCALISM post for Casa Santiago in Roayl Palm Beach Florida. The food sounds delicious but I'd be heading right for the deserts in the bakery.
I love Cuban sandwiches, used to eat them frequently when I lived it Tampa. Don't recall seeing them here in Denver. ~Rita
Royal Palm Beach Florida is a beautiful area, just love Cuban Food Casa Santiagosounds like the place to go!
For those asking, Cuban food has no relation or resemblance to Mexican food.
I have tried Cuban food either, but it looks like a great place to eat. Very homey, casual style.
Nice review. I am almost getting hungry and I just finished eating. Will have to stop there next time I am in the neighborhood!
Katerina, loved your photos and information on this restaurant. Learned that your husband was a Cuban refuge....escaping from Castro. Very cool stuff! ;-) Congrats - again - on another gold star. ;-)
Katerina - This looks like a fun place. I have never had Cuban food and would love to try it. Going where the Spanish station is in the background would be a nice touch to get in the mood. And you know it must be authenic and good if there are always spanish speaking patrons.
Debi- No, it is not like Mexican food, totally different. More like Spanish food from Spain.
OK, my mouth is watering now. Love Spain; ;ove the food and Cuban food is really close. I guess I'll be making a trip!!
Simon- We will take you to lunch there when you come our way!
Jeremy- Those pastries are good. The flan is excellent!
Gary- The closer you get to Miami the more Cuban restaurants you will find. The clue to a good one is if everyone eating there is speaking Spanish:)
Bob and Carolin- Thanks for stopping by!
Michael- There is a great Cuban restaurant on Caya De Ocho in Miami that we frequent when we are down your way.
Debe- Thank you! The atmosphere is very condusive to the menu! Cuban food is great. Even the way the owners have decorated the exterior of the restaurant make it so tropical.
Oh Katerina... now you have me craving! It looks quite yummy.
Gail- I am getting hungry reading all these comments!
Jeff- Cuban dancing is fun too! Cuban food is very popular here in South Florida. We have a very large Cuban population here.
Chuck- The food is great and I am now getting hungry too!
Rose- Yes, the Flan is a Cuban dish. But there are different Flans and the Cuban Flan is different than Mexican Flan.
Pacita- I will miss Cuban food when I move to Hawaii:) I do know how to cook Cuban food very well and when I have time I make Nestor cuban food. Nestor makes the Cuban Bisce and I make Black Beans and Rice all the time. We eat them almost daily in our home. Black beans happen to be the most healthy and nutricious of all the beans.
I lived in San Francisco for a couple of years. I was born in Stanford University hospital. I lived in Menlo Park after I moved state side from Germany, Navy Brat.
Neal- Yep, most of it is fattening. That is why I eat the Yukka and Black beans and rice. Nestor loves Cuban Sandwiches but only if they are made right. Most places do not know how to make them right.
Pippa- I was going to call you today. You must have power since you are commenting. Are you alright? Did you suffer any Ike damage?
Donna- My Treat! Thanks for the comment:)
Kenna- Hmmm, have not heard of them in Denver either! Thanks for commenting.
Kenna- Hmmm, have not heard of them in Denver either! Thanks for commenting.
Elaine- you did not log in when you made your comment. You can come back to do that if you want. Yes, Cuban sandwiches are great as long as they are authentic.
Gabe- Thanks for clearing that up! Cuban and Mexican food are totally different!
Chastity- This is a home grown cafe, very relaxed and casual as you noticed. A great place to brush up on your Spanish too.
Teri- And they came here legally:) They had to wait for their citizenship and do all that was necessary even though they had political asylum. Nestor was 6 years old when they left Cuba with bombs and gun shots everywhere.
Pam- that is what I always say when we are looking for a good place to eat. We look to see who is eating there. Cubans and Dominicans frequent Casa Santiago. Try it sometime, you may like it:)
I have an appointment to go to a restaurant I really like tomorrow to talk to the manager and work on a post. I appreciate your perspective on how to write a great review.
Christine- I am glad that I could be of help in that regard. Good luck with your post. Have fun!
my first media noche was at a place in Miami, calle ocho - can't remember the name of the restuarant - it was soooo good though! Had the great privelege to be in Cuba for a month in Dec 03, loved it. You brought back some great memories!
Excellent post. You really engage the whole community with your blog.
What a fantastic localism post, Katerina. You've just about made me want to come down for lunch. Excellent photo's too, btw.
HI KAT!
Cool looking spot! The food sounds delish!! And, that cutie with the big beautiful smile was a great touch!
Excellent local post - and I do enjoy Cuban food. When Tami and I were in Costa Rica recently, I did enjoy the beans and rice, even for breakfast.
Alexsandra- We love Calle de Ocho and all the shops and restaurants along that segment of Miami. How did you get to go to Cuba? Nestor would love to go one day but as long as Castro and his brother are alive Nestor's family can not ever go back. They still have family there that did not get out.
Jesse- That would be quite the jaunt for lunch:)
Sal- Thanks and thanks for commenting on this localism post about Casa Santiago. Engaging others in our localism posts makes them more fun to do!
Sharon- Thanks! I am sure you must have a good Cuban Restaurant in St Pete. Costa Rica is one of the places I want to visit. I know a lot of retired people moving there.
Yvette- Thank you, he is a cutie pie if I do say so myself:) I have new photos of my granddaughter too! I will post them at the end of the week most likely!
Katerian what a great job featuring Casa Santiago In Royal Palm Beach Florida. This place sounds like it has terrific Cuban Food!
I do not know Cuban food except for Cuban sandwich with pulled port and citrus mayo. In our part of Florida you do not see it. When we were in Miami, we asked locals, and they directed us to, if I remember correctly, cafe Latina. The atmosphera was fun, the food was very good, but I would not remeber what it was. It was an outside seating, very crowded, and entertaining.
Great post
Jon- Then you were in a great place! If Cubans were there and it was crowded you were in for a treat! Thanks for commenting.
Bill- Thanks for the comment:) It is great cuban food. I am going to put this post on a CD for the owner and Nestor will bring it over to him. The owner is going to love this post!
Katerina and Nestor -- I got to go to Cuba by attending a professional conference, scheduled to be at Univ of Santa Clara. I was an organization development and diversity consultant at the time -- and the conference was on culture and education (also an educator). It got cancelled and no one reached us before getting there --so we had the opportunity to substitute other activities. One of the professors at the Univ showed us around for several days. the rest of the time we were in La Habana. My friend Nestor Hernandez had a similar situation -- some family there and not in US. very difficult situation. I hope that there is a way for Nestor and you to get there some day. My friend did.
Alexsandra- Thank you for sharing your story!
I'd be just like Tristian (Christian?) in that it would be tough to make up my mind what I want for dessert. Frankly, I'd have a tough choice picking dinner at Casa Santiago in Royal Palm Beach Florida!
Perhaps Nestor could order us a few of his favorites and we'll share family style, Katerina!
Irene- Thanks Irene! Nestor knows how to order Cuban food and I learned when we were dating how to cook Cuban food:) But Casa Santiago is a great Cuban cafe.
Katerina - Great Localism Post. I have not had Cuban Food and they sound delicious. I was wondering if they are similar to Filipino food. We have Lechon and Leche Flan and other spanish sounding dishes. Most of them originated during the Spanish Regime.
Katerina, absolutley a fabulous localism post, haven't been to Palm Beach, since I moved from Vero Bch.
Think maybe a trip just for Casa Santiago in Royal Palm Beach would be worth it since I love Flan.
Rosalinda- Cuban food has huge Spanish roots in it along with some island touches. I love Filipino food. I lived in Hawaii and my disco dance partners were Filipino. I spoke Tagalog while in Hawaii but forgot all of it except for: ini ibig kita. Probably spelled it wrong. The Flan is much the same. Cubans eat a root called Yucca alot with garlic and mojo. They eat a lot of pork similar to Lechon and chicken similar to Filipino chicken dish. But they don't eat the bean curd noodles ( see through noodles) that I just LOVE! Mmmm, I think I may make those for my dinner now. Cubans eat rice with everything just like Filipinos do. Well, even Tagalog is heavily influenced by the Spanish language. If you know how to speak Spanish you can learn Tagalog very fast. I went to the Filipines for a very short acting gig when I was 17. Katerina
Ann- Thank you! You are welcome to stop by anytime. I have spent a lot of time in Jacksonville during the years that I owned TaeKwonDo schools as one of the leaders has many schools there. Katerina
OK that's it - I'm coming over there for lunch!
