This is the result of raising your voice, emailing and writing your Representatives our US House of Representatives.
Sometimes we feel like our one tiny voice does not get heard but when we put our voices together, things will get done. Whether or not you have children, this issue concerns you as those that oppose parental rights seek to submit to a United Nations order and rule of law.
Parentalrights.org asked us to help get 50 Congressmen to become the original co-sponsors of the Parental Rights Amendment which has been headed up by Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Michigan. On March 11th we only had 31 members of the US house of Representatives on board for this amendment that is a vital instrument to protect the rights of Parents in the United States against the global treaty that the U.S. is being pressured to sign into law.
So people all over the United States began to write their representatives, email and call them to get them to become sponsors. We needed 19 more to sign on.
We did it! Today there are 56 Representatives who are now the sponsors of the Parental Rights Amendment.
If your representative is on this list- parentalrights.org is asking you to please send them an email or a letter to thank them and let them know you appreciate them doing so. You can go to the list here to see if your state reps are on the list. Mine are not. Not one rep from Florida is on the list.
If your congressman is not on board and is not on the list please contact them. Please email them or write to them. Put them on the spot. Parentalrights.org suggests the following language to make them ask themselves why they are not on the list.
"Rep. Hoekstra's Parental Rights Amendment bill will be introduced on the 31st and he already has 56 co-sponsors. Why aren't you (Mr or Ms Representative) one of them?"
Go to Congress.org and put in your zip code to find your Representatives' office and contact information.
We have over 100,000 signatures on the petition. If you have not signed the petition yet, you can do so here.
But we are just beginning. We are going to need millions of citizen supporters to bring this to fruition, we also need 290 "YEA" votes in the House.
Parental.org needs volunteers and if you are not a member it is only $25 a year to be member! You will get two window decals that say, "Protecting Children By Empowering Parents". Please get involved.
You may reprint this article, send it, email it, fax it; spread the word. Thanks!
For further reading and resources I suggest that you read the information on the parentalrights.org website. See what has been happening in the court system and the pressures from the global treaty proponents to take over parental rights. Below is just a snippet of what you will find:
THE THREAT FROM INTERNATIONAL LAW
"The precarious state of parental rights within our nation is reason enough for serious concern. With cases like these filling the courts, every parent should be concerned about the protection and preservation of their rights.
But another storm is rapidly forming on the horizon.
International law that seeks to empower the government to intrude upon the child-parent relationship is becoming an increasing threat. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), a seemingly harmless treaty with dangerous implications for American families, is approaching possible ratification by the United States.
If this treaty is made binding upon our country, the government would have the power to intervene in any child's life to advance its definition of "the best interests of the child." The scenarios that could occur—and are occurring—as a result of this dangerous notion are both manifold and frightening.
Under the UNCRC, instead of following due process, government agencies would have the power to override your parental choices at their whim because they determine what is in "the best interest of the child."
In essence, the UNCRC applies the legal status of abusive parents to all parents. This means that the burden of proof falls on the parent to prove to the State that they are good parents—when it should fall upon the State to prove that their investigation is not without cause."
There is a lot more than meets the eye, when you embark upon your own due diligence.

DANGEROUS PRECEDENT
Parental rights are under attack in our nation, with the first threat originating from within the federal court system. As this story illustrates, a growing disregard for parental rights has been spreading within the courts of our nation.
Across the country, many judges are beginning to deny the vital role of parents in the lives of their children, instead inserting the government into a "parental" role in a child's life. This dangerous assertion is leading to the severance of the child-parent relationship in numerous instances across the nation—removals that cause unnecessary pain to both children and their parents.
A thirteen-year-old boy in Washington State was removed from his parents after he complained to school counselors that his parents took him to church too often. His school counselors had encouraged him to call Child Protective Services with his complaint, which led to his subsequent removal and placement in foster care. It was only after the parents agreed to a judge's requirement of less-frequent church attendance that they were able to recover their son.
These are stories in the news that are listed on parentalrights.org, find out more of what they don't tell us:
HANGING BY A THREAD
Not all judges hold a low view of parental rights. Some, like Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, believe that parental rights are among the "inalienable rights" of Americans enumerated in the Declaration of Independence but they are finding it increasingly difficult to rule in favor of parental rights when it is not explicitly included in the language of the Constitution.
In Troxel v. Granville, the last major parental rights case heard by the Supreme Court, Scalia himself voted to deny parental rights the status of an enforceable constitutional right. And other federal court judges are following in his footsteps, citing a mounting belief that no right can be protected by the federal courts unless explicitly stated in the Constitution.
The dwindling support for parental rights found on the federal level has opened the door to a growing, blatant disregard of parental rights within the lower courts of our nation. Parental rights violations are on the increase across the country, as courts exchange parental involvement for government control in the lives of America's children.
The right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children is hanging by a thread.
Oh, Lord, what is this world coming to? Thanks for sharing this. I'll e-mail this to everyone I know...but not right now...it is 11:50 where I am, I need to sleep...
I've e-mailed this to several people whom I know will help. I also just finished sending an e-mail to my representative in Congress who is not on the list of supporters of the Parental Rights Amendment Bill and asked him why he is not. Thanks for working so hard on this important issue.
William- Please help us with this cause, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Vicki- Thank you for taking the time to email this post and the website. Thanks also for emailing your rep. I have been emailing mine, I will call again too. I have done a lot of research on this before I got on board. Since I homeschool it is even more important to me.
Good for you getting the word out. I saw an interview on Fox yesterday with a home school mom who was told to put her kids in public school by a judge. This is sick!! When the rights of parents to raise their kids as they see fit are violated we are a nation headed for doom.
Pete is one of the good guys in Michigan.
I am on this mailing list as a result of your post a while back.
I am emailing my representative this morning. I am also reblogging this so more can see it.
Katerina --- I looked and SC is well represented as sponsors of the bill --- thank goodness. Thanks for all the information above ---As Bob Swetz said in a recent post, "I want my country back".
Hey, Thanks for sharing. While see that SC is represented, I don't see my rep. I will do all I can. Thanks, Jim
Missy- I think the story you saw was even worse than what the media told: this mother was getting divorced. This mother and her children went to a church and all their homeschool was Bible based, Christian based curriculum. ( Which most Judges can not stand!) So the kids are tested above grade level, are well adjusted. Even the judge says he is impressed with their competence, etc.
But then he says in his ruling that he wants the kids' to have their faith tested against what is going to come their way in public school!!!!!! WHAT!!!! A judge judging their faith and religion?
Katerina,
This is terrible. We are slowly losing our freedoms. I am so glad that my grandmother is not around to hear about this. The way it's going, the government will be running all of our lives. I thought we were a democracy, not a Communist government.
I noticed only 1 representative from PA signed. I signed the petition and I'm off to write my representatives. I am also reblogging this post.
Thank you for informing us of this important issue.
Brigita
Brigita- Thank you for your support and signing the petition. My great granparents, grand parents and mother are looking down in sorrow at how communist our wonderful country is becoming. We must all do what we can, writing letters, talking to people about the issues, running for office, volunteering, and go to tea parties to let our congress know we want our country back! THanks for the reblog too.
Kevin- Thank you! Every little bit helps. We must spread the word, take a stand, silent no more.
Liz- I want my country back too! South Carolina tends to be pro parents, let's keep it that way!
Jim and Maria- Please do all you can to help get the petition signed. You could send it to the homeschool support groups in your area too. Let everyone know what is at stake here. This is serious. I have done a lot of research on this and I know first hand all about how 'good intentions of the state' can ruin childhoods as I was yanked away from my mother and placed in a group home. All I wanted was my mommy back.
Katerina,
The family unit is the most attacked element of society that needs to be protected...!!! Thanks, Fran
Fran- The institution of marriage and the family are being attacked on many fronts. This is the adversary's plan. We must do all that we can to protect the family for the family is the foundation of a free society. Communists' sole agenda is to #1 get rid of God. In order to get rid of God, they must get rid of the traditional family. Then the state can come in and become the parents. That is their agenda. Maybe people call me a conspiracist but I call myself a realist. I have read the very words of Communist leaders like Stalin and Marx, of Krustzev and most of all the very educators here in America whose agenda is to get the kids early enough ( federal and state preschool ring a bell?) to brainwash them with anti God and humanism doctrine so that they don't have to fight their faith in God when they get older. This is all written by educational leaders in our very own government.
I've been reading about the UN situation - it's going to get bad without any conservative voices. John Bolton was a restraining hand for the last couple of years.
Looks like I'm running unopposed after all, according to the county elections webpage.
Jeff- Congrats! I am excited about your running for Mayor. Please let us all know what we can do to help.
The UN is a scary situation. If you read more of their positions you will find two very high priority agenda for them with children: get rid of God ASAP from children's education and lives, and get rid of homeschool. It is so sad that even though we have a lot of homeschoolers in the United States it is such a small insignificant group of people to go after. There must of course be something that scares the UN about people believing in God and thinking for themselves. Why do they need our children so badly?
So glad I spotted your Tweet on this today. I contacted my Representative John Sarbanes, and will forward copy of your post to my family and friends.
Katerina,
How scary that is. Thank you for your post and bringing this to much needed attention.
Katerina - This isn't the only treaty that has wide spread implications. In 2002, the US withdrew from the World Criminal Court Treaty that exposed U.S. military personnel to possible criminal prosecution. Recent Spanish criminal prosecution of Bush advisors for setting up military tribunals is an example how US law and international law can collide. I'm all in favor of international cooperation - but not at the expense of US sovereignty or, in the case of your post, parental rights (including constitutional rights to due process). Thanks for bringing this issue to a wider audience.
